Flooring supply and fitting

Retail flooring and salon floor coverings

Retail flooring should be specified for the routes customers and staff actually use. A salon also needs a covering that fits its cleaning routine and the layout around working furniture. JT Flooring supplies and fits commercial LVT, carpet tiles and sheet vinyl, with preparation and fitting hours agreed for the premises after a free survey.

Separate display space from working areas

A shop entrance, a quieter consultation area and a staff kitchen have different demands. Choosing one product throughout may look simple, but the specification still has to account for traffic and cleaning in each zone. Start the survey conversation with how the premises is used rather than only the colour you want.

We fit shops and salons, with glue-down LVT for wipe-clean floors and entrances. Carpet tiles are another option for quieter working spaces, while sheet vinyl can suit staff kitchens and wet areas. Where different materials meet, doorways and thresholds need to be included in the same flooring plan.

Specify the commercial product, not just the effect

A wood-effect sample does not establish whether the product is appropriate for a working shop. Consider use classes and wear layers alongside appearance. The product being quoted should be identified clearly so you can compare the intended use as well as its colour, texture and plank or tile format.

For LVT, a commercial wear layer is part of that specification. Glue-down fitting also means an individual damaged plank can be replaced when suitable matching stock is available. Keep spares from the same batch rather than assuming a later purchase will look identical. Discuss that provision while ordering the main floor, not only after a piece becomes damaged.

Consider the cleaning routine in a salon

The cleanable surface of commercial LVT makes it a useful option for salons. The daily care still needs to follow the manufacturer's recommendation. Use suitable cleaners and felt pads under furniture, with barrier matting at entrances to limit grit reaching the finished floor.

A waterproof surface is not a reason to overlook what is happening underneath. The base and moisture condition are checked before installation. For staff kitchens or other wet areas, sheet vinyl is considered separately, with welded seams and a coved edge available through our commercial service. Specify the actual area instead of assuming the same detail is needed everywhere.

Prepare around the existing premises

On refurbishment work, the current covering and old adhesive affect what happens next. Our commercial preparation includes adhesive removal, smoothing or levelling and concrete moisture checks. Those items should appear in the written specification rather than be left out because the visible product has already been chosen.

Columns, floor boxes and doorways are part of the measuring and cutting conversation. Explain what furniture or stock can move and which routes must remain accessible. The survey relates the preparation and layout to the premises itself, so the fitting sequence does not depend on finding unexpected obstacles when work is due to begin.

Agree fitting hours and a practical sequence

Evening, weekend and phased fitting are available. The suitable arrangement depends on opening hours and how the space can be cleared. Discuss those choices before settling dates, including any delivery or building-management requirements that affect access to the premises.

The quote identifies the covering, preparation, fixing materials and labour, including the agreed fitting hours. On a refit, uplift and disposal also need to be clear. Contact us with the shop or salon details to book a free survey. We can then bring the product, work areas and installation sequence into one written plan rather than comparing material-only prices.

FAQs

Your flooring questions

Do you supply flooring for shops and salons?

Yes. We fit shops and salons, considering LVT, carpet tiles and sheet vinyl for the areas and cleaning requirements of the premises.

Can the work be planned outside opening hours?

Evening and weekend fitting are available within our commercial service. The survey establishes suitable hours, access and the sequence, including whether phased work fits your premises.

What belongs in a retail flooring quotation?

The product, preparation, adhesive or tackifier and labour should be identified, together with fitting hours. For refurbishment, agree uplift, disposal and where furniture or stock can move.

Why keep spare LVT planks?

An individual glue-down plank can be replaced if matching material is available. Spares from the original batch give a better basis for that work than relying on a later order to match.
