Amtico flooring cost and Karndean flooring cost depend on the collection, laying pattern and the base being covered. Our pricing page lists LVT from £45/m² supplied and fitted. That is an LVT starting figure, not a fixed price for every branded collection or herringbone design. A measured survey and written specification establish the figure for your chosen floor.

Use the starting figure for the right comparison
The LVT starting price of £45/m² supplied and fitted is useful when beginning a budget conversation. It should not be relabelled as an Amtico Signature price or a Karndean Art Select price. Those names identify collections, and a quotation has to name the actual product rather than use a broad LVT category as if every choice costs the same.
A material-only advert answers a different question from a complete installed quote. Check what each figure includes before comparing them. Flooring supply, preparation, adhesive, fitting and the doorway finish all belong in the conversation. The useful outcome is a written description of your selected floor, not a single headline rate detached from the room it will cover.
Compare collections before comparing brands
We fit ranges including Karndean Knight Tile, Van Gogh and Art Select, and Amtico Spacia, Signature and Form. The relevant choice is the sample and specification within a collection, not the assumption that every product carrying one brand name has the same price or laying options.
Amtico's design-led collections and Karndean's spread of wood effects give different routes to a floor you like. Bring the samples into the room and compare them beside the furniture and skirting. A more expensive-looking sample on a screen is not enough to settle what you actually want. The free visit lets colour, format and the fitting plan be considered together.

Separate straight planks from patterned work
Herringbone and chevron are not simply straight planks laid a little differently. Patterned layouts involve extra setting out and waste. Borders and design strips also change the work involved. If you are comparing Karndean herringbone fitting cost with a straight-plank offer, make sure the laying pattern is described in each quote.
That does not mean choosing a pattern is wrong for a budget-conscious project. It means the comparison should be honest about what is being purchased. Decide whether the pattern is the feature you value, then compare suitable formats and a complete installation specification. Removing preparation from the comparison would not make the patterned floor an equivalent cheaper option.
Understand what preparation is paying for
Thin glue-down LVT reflects the surface underneath. Old adhesive, uneven concrete and board joints need checking before a new designer finish is fitted. Our service includes moisture assessment and preparation, with smoothing or self-levelling over concrete and plywood preparation over timber where needed. The condition of your base is why two similar rooms can receive different quotes.
Do not count preparation twice if it is already included in a complete quotation, or assume it is free because another advert leaves it unmentioned. Ask what work has been allowed for and how it is described. The product and the base must be suitable together; buying a premium range does not remove the need to prepare the floor beneath it.
Why an Amtico cost calculator is only a starting point
Your approximate floor dimensions can help explain the project, but multiplying area by a starting rate cannot settle collection choice, layout cuts or base condition. A calculator also cannot inspect old adhesive or decide how a floor should meet an adjoining covering. Those are survey questions rather than gaps to fill with an invented allowance.
Keep the first conversation straightforward: identify the rooms, say whether you want straight planks or a pattern, and explain what is on the floor now. If adjoining rooms are part of the plan, mention them. That gives a fitter useful information before measuring, without treating an online estimate as a promise about the eventual fitted price.
Ask for a specification you can actually compare
The written quote should make the chosen range, pattern and preparation clear. Our fitting offer also includes uplift and disposal, furniture handling, cuts, door bars and clean-up. Read the quote as a whole and clarify what applies to your project instead of comparing only a branded product name and a square-metre figure.
JT Flooring supplies and fits both brands and brings samples to the free visit. Use the Karndean and Amtico service page to arrange that next step, or compare the fitting guide if you are still choosing the collection. A quote for your own rooms is the way to turn the LVT starting price into a specific flooring decision.

Frequently asked questions
Is £45/m² a fixed Amtico or Karndean fitted price?
It is the LVT starting price on our pricing page, supplied and fitted. The selected collection, layout and preparation establish the written quote; it is not a fixed tariff for every branded range.
Does herringbone affect Karndean fitting cost?
Patterned layouts involve additional setting out and waste compared with straight planks. Compare quotes that name the same layout and include the preparation required for the room.
Can I calculate an exact fitted price from room area?
Area is a useful starting point, but it does not establish the base condition, collection, pattern or doorway details. Measuring and inspection at the free survey provide the information for a written quote.
Which page explains what fitting includes?
Our pricing page sets out the supply-and-fit offer, while the Karndean and Amtico service page explains the branded LVT installation. Use both alongside the specification for your own floor.
